Jury Statement
"This year, we recorded a record number of applicants, and the jury's meeting was intense yet efficient. Through a thorough analysis of the applicants' profiles and portfolios, we reached a consensus to highlight four artists whose voices stood out not only in terms of concept but also in terms of visual expression. We considered the diversity of media and emphasized artists who had previously applied for the Oskár Čepan Award. From our perspective, the work of the selected quartet responds to the challenges that the contemporary art world currently faces.
We decided to nominate artistic practices that open new ways of thinking about identity and difference (Kvet Nguyen), transcend the boundaries of media (Svetlana Fialová), acknowledge the diversity and humor that art can offer (Tomáš Moravanský), and engage in dialogue with nature in relation to new technologies (Paula Malinowska)."

The Jury
The portfolios of the applicants were evaluated by an international jury composed of top experts in the field of contemporary visual art.
"This year, we managed to assemble an exciting jury. Amira Gad and Lilia Kudelia continue their two-year jury mandate. We also welcomed Erin Li and Piotr Sikora to the jury team this year. They selected only four exhibiting artists from 63 applicants, who will now work on new projects and prepare an exhibition at Pistori Palace in Bratislava. Their session took place on April 9, 2024, and the selection process lasted over four hours. The jury ultimately reached a decision and selected three laureates."
